THE JOHN BUTLER TRIO
john Butler começou a sua carreira a tocar nas ruas de Fremantle, cidade que alberga o maior porto comercial da Austrália, a troco de algumas moedas e aproveitando para vender a sua primeira maquete. Seguiram-se convites para alguns concertos em bares locais e mais regularmente no Mojo’s Bar, que era na altura gerido por Phil Stevens, actual manager do John Butler Trio. Enquanto John Butler ia compondo as suas canções originais e o seu talento se tornava cada vez mais evidente, surgiu a possibilidade de gravar o primeiro álbum.
“John Butler” foi editado em 1998, e contou com a participação de Jason McGann na bateria e Gavin Shoesmith no baixo. Os dois músicos acabaram por acompanhar John Butler em pequenas tournées pela Austrália. Com o passar do tempo tornaram-se no “John Butler Trio” e os espectáculos a solo do cantor passaram a ser uma raridade. Em 2003 o “John Butler Trio” estabilizou na formação actual com Michael Barker na bateria e Shannon Birchail no baixo.
